The Pysanky Process: |
| Ukrainian Pysanky are decorated thru a process of wax and dyes called batik. The premise behind batik is to move from lightest to darkest dye colors writing on the egg with wax. The areas under the wax will retain the dye color, starting with the natural shell. When the process is complete, the wax is removed, revealing the brilliant colors preserved under the beeswax. |
